Does an immediate sales message on LinkedIn wind you up?

There's always posts on Linkedin where people sharing their frustration about receiving a sales message from a new LinkedIn contact withing thirty seconds.

I understand the frustration and nobody likes to be pounced on. They're asking to get into bed with our business and we haven't even been out on a date yet!

My view is one of empathy and sympathy for those people sending the messages.

They are not bad people, they just don't know what to do for the best and when you consider that the vast majority of business invest no money into sales training, it's hardly surprising.

Some small business owners may have never worked in sales in their lives, let alone have any professional training in it.

So whilst the temptation to immediately disconnect or get wound up, it could just a person who knows no better trying to do the best they can.

It's nice to be nice.
